Future Imperative

What if technology were being developed that could enhance your mind or body to extraordinary or even superhuman levels -- and some of these tools were already here? Wouldn't you be curious?

Actually, some are here. But human enhancement is an incredibly broad and compartmentalized field. We’re often unaware of what’s right next door. This site reviews resources and ideas from across the field and makes it easy for readers to find exactly the information they're most interested in.

Name:

The future is coming fast, and it's no longer possible to ignore how rapidly the world is changing. As the old order changes -- or more frequently crumbles altogether -- I offer a perspective on how we can transform ourselves in turn... for the better. Nothing on this site is intended as legal, financial or medical advice. Indeed, much of what I discuss amounts to possibilities rather than certainties, in an ever-changing present and an ever-uncertain future.

Power Armor for the Masses

I hope all you mecha enthusiasts out there haven't missed this one from Cyberdyne... =)

Cyberdyne HAL Exoskeleton

That's the full-scale version of their exoskeletal system, which is supposed to amplify the strength of its wearer. You can already rent the leg-only versions in Japan.

It's funny. I've conceived of a way to create a lighter-than-air shell that would be many times stronger than steel and have other useful defensive properties -- combined with something like this HAL device, it would make for quite the suit of "Supercop" power armor.

Hey Ralph. Great post, it popped up as I was doing some research on powered armor both in fantasy and reality.

I have some great ideas on how anyone could enhance themselves to comic book proportions on the cheap. Fairly quickly as well. Please get back to me if you want to bounce some ideas around.

Be happy to talk, Bren. I'm over on my LiveJournal version of this blog right now, as Blogger is inexplicably unable to give me a login window to edit this one.

Try here:

I'll put up a specific post we can bounce ideas around on in the next couple of days.
